Getting to Geirangerfjord

Day 2

Goal today is to reach Geiranger.

Route E39 between Klakegg and Byrkjelo

Made a visit to Briksdalsbreen to checkout what’s left of the glacier.

The drive in to Briksdalsbreen

It was after our hike that we realised we had made a big mistake. We were planning on driving to Geiranger but the roads were still closed due to snow! Out of panic I called our accommodation and the lady advised we try catch the ferry at Hellesylt.

So I drove as safely and quick as I could… We got to Hellesylt with about 20 minutes to spare before the last ferry departs. It’s days like these that you realise maybe god is watching out for you.

The Hellesylt-Geiranger ferry is a tourist centric one. It plays pre-recorded stories as the ship navigates through the Geirangerfjord. And also a bit more expensive too.
